Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Cycling Science Knowledge Base. Last updated: 6 July 2026.
1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Cycling Science Knowledge Base platform (“the KB”), operated by Int Sports Consultancy Limited, a company registered in Scotland (Company No. SC443657) (“we”, “us”, “our”).
By creating an account or accessing the KB, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the KB.
These Terms apply to all tiers of access, including the free tier and paid subscriptions.
2. The Service
2.1 What the KB Provides
The Cycling Science KB provides access to a curated, evidence-graded knowledge base of cycling and exercise science research, accessible via a query interface powered by artificial intelligence. Responses are synthesis summaries drawn from peer-reviewed literature, with evidence grades and citations.
2.2 What the KB Does Not Provide
The KB is not a coaching service, personal training programme, medical advice service, or substitute for professional judgement. Outputs are evidence syntheses intended to inform professional and personal decision-making — they are not recommendations specific to any individual’s circumstances, health status, or training history.
The KB is not a substitute for:
- Professional coaching advice
- Medical or physiological assessment
- Nutritional guidance from a registered dietitian
- Any other regulated professional service
2.3 AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
The KB query interface uses artificial intelligence and machine learning. AI-generated outputs:
- May be inaccurate, incomplete, or reflect limitations of the underlying research
- Do not constitute professional advice of any kind
- Must be evaluated by you against your own professional judgement and your specific context before being applied
You are solely responsible for how you use and apply information obtained from the KB. We do not accept liability for decisions made on the basis of KB outputs.
3. Accounts and Eligibility
3.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement.
3.2 Account Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate registration information
- Maintaining the security of your login credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access
Do not share your account credentials. Accounts are for individual use unless you hold an organisational subscription.
3.3 Account Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, engage in conduct that harms the platform or other users, or for legal compliance reasons. We will give reasonable notice except where immediate action is required to protect the platform or its users.
4. Subscriptions and Payment
4.1 Free Tier
The free tier provides limited access to the KB subject to monthly query limits as specified on our pricing page. We reserve the right to adjust free tier limits with reasonable notice.
4.2 Pro Subscription
Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at purchase. Prices are as shown on our pricing page at the time of subscription. Payment is processed by our payment provider, Stripe.
4.3 Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You will receive a reminder before annual renewal. You may cancel at any time; your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
4.4 Refunds
We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except:
- Where we materially change these Terms to your detriment and you cancel within 30 days of notice
- Where required by applicable consumer protection law
4.5 Price Changes
We will give at least 30 days’ notice of price increases. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.
4.6 Free Trial
Where a free trial is offered, it provides full Pro access for the stated trial period. At the end of the trial, your account reverts to the free tier unless you have provided payment details and confirmed a subscription.
5. Acceptable Use
5.1 Permitted Use
You may use the KB for personal professional development, coaching practice, sports science research, and education — in accordance with these Terms and our Acceptable Use Policy.
5.2 Prohibited Uses
You must not:
(a) Systematic extraction and scraping.Use automated tools, bots, scripts, or any systematic method to extract, download, copy, or reproduce the KB’s synthesis entries, evidence grades, domain structure, or any substantial portion of the KB’s content. This includes manual systematic extraction designed to replicate the KB’s content outside the platform.
(b) Competing products. Use KB outputs, synthesis methodology, evidence grades, or any content derived from the KB to develop, train, or improve a competing knowledge base, AI model, or commercial service.
(c) Unauthorised redistribution. Reproduce, publish, or distribute KB synthesis content commercially or in a way that substitutes for a KB subscription, without our written permission.
(d) Misuse of the query interface. Submit queries designed to circumvent query limits, extract bulk content, test security boundaries, or manipulate the AI system into producing outputs beyond its intended scope.
(e) Unlawful use. Use the KB in any way that violates applicable law, including data protection law, intellectual property law, or professional regulatory requirements.
(f) Harmful use. Use KB outputs to support advice or decisions that could cause physical harm, in contexts where professional medical or physiological assessment is required.
5.3 Professional Responsibility
If you are a licensed or accredited coach, sports scientist, or other regulated professional, you remain bound by your professional obligations and regulatory requirements regardless of any KB output. The KB does not override your duty of care to athletes or clients.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Our Intellectual Property
The KB, including its synthesis methodology, evidence grading system, domain structure, curation process, database architecture, query interface, and all content we have created, is our intellectual property or that of our licensors. These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights to you.
6.2 Underlying Research
The underlying peer-reviewed research cited in KB syntheses is the intellectual property of its respective authors and publishers. We do not claim ownership of that research. Citations are provided to enable you to access primary sources.
6.3 Your Queries
You retain ownership of the queries you submit. By submitting queries, you grant us a limited licence to process them for the purpose of providing the service.
6.4 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the KB, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use that feedback without obligation to you.
7. Limitation of Liability
7.1 No Warranty
The KB is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The KB will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
- Any specific query will return an accurate, complete, or current response
- The KB meets your specific professional or personal requirements
7.2 Liability Cap
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the KB is limited to the subscription fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.
7.3 Excluded Losses
We are not liable for:
- Indirect, consequential, or incidental losses
- Loss of profits, revenue, or anticipated savings
- Loss of data
- Physical injury or harm arising from training decisions made on the basis of KB outputs
- Losses arising from reliance on AI-generated content without independent professional verification
7.4 Exceptions
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7.5 Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer (using the KB for purposes unrelated to your trade, business, or profession), statutory consumer rights under UK law apply and are not affected by these Terms.
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the KB, or your violation of any third-party rights.
9. Termination
9.1 By You
You may close your account at any time. Closing your account cancels any active subscription from the end of the current billing period. Refer to our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data following account closure.
9.2 By Us
We may terminate or suspend your access immediately for material breach of these Terms, or with 30 days’ notice for any other reason. On termination, your right to access the KB ceases. We will not refund subscription fees except where termination is without cause and a refund is required by law.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will give at least 30 days’ notice of material changes by email or platform notice. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept material changes, you may cancel your subscription and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of any annual subscription.
